Changes From Movie to Book
tall_hobbit

A lot of people are getting... agitated... about the difference between the movies and the books, and how certain things were changed. Now, I was as... agitated... as everyone else (if not MORE!) about many of the changes - especially in the portraying of Farimir in the script, but everyone needs to understand that it had to me made into a MOVIE - Tolkien didn't write a transcript for a movie, he wrote a novel. There are certain things explained in WORDS in the book, that had to also be represented in the book, to get the point across. The writers had to come up with ways to show things that were explained in the book but not in dialogue. They had to change SOME Things, in order to make it a MOVIE. Movies are different than books - it's just how they were made. But the the films still did capture Middle-Earth - even if it wasn't exactly the same! You have to admit that the movies are still AWESOME, and the books are too.

I really didn't want to sound... agitated... but I think everyone really needs to understand that everything has to be exactly the same - I'm just thankful that we have the books, and can see the movies! Imagine if we didn't have that - they both each reference the other...its much easier to understand, now.

Any thoughts, love to hear them. I started school on Aug. 7, so I haven't been able to post lately. Anything to get away!
