Tear-jerker (p.s. Warning! RotK Spoiler!)
Lady of Rohan

Call me biased, but the most moving scene in the books is, for me, the scene in which King Theoden is slain, and Eowyn and Merry battle the Witch-king alone. I can never read it without getting choked up.

As a small aside, I for one am waiting until the extended version of The Two Towers before I watch it again. To any that are doing likewise I have one thing to say: courage, my friends, courage.
