Lotsa Stuff
Tinowien

First quick note: I prefer putting all my topics in one article, and it is easier for me when others do too, as my browser is quite slow and reading all a person's posts on one page is quicker than downloading, say, three pages on topics a paragraph long.

And sorry, Brett. C, I am still swayed. Mind you, I don't believe Balrogs can fly and am unmovable there. After Gandalf and the Balrog plunge into the pool, then he follows the 'thing of slime' up Durin's Stair, why doesn't the Balrog fly up if it could? No excuses there.

And yikes, people, see a two-second shot of Gandalf facing a winged Nazgul and bite Peter Jackson's head off, why don't you. Lord of the Rings could have been completely butchered by Hollywood, I'm very thankful for the decent treatment we are lucky to have gotten.

And something terribly amusing, to me anyway: Tolkien was quoted as calling his fans "My deplorable cultus." I have to remember that. I am one of the deplorable cultus, and proud of it.

A tear jerker line: At the end of TT, Sam's little speech, the part where he says, "You wonder how could the world go back to the way it was after so much bad has happened."
It resonates with me so completely. I knew that being in highschool meant I'd have to deal with drugs, alcohol and sex, but no one ever told me how awful it is to watch friends and enemies throw their lives away with those cheap thrills. I terribly miss when we were innocent little kids.
It is so comforting to see someone else feels that way too, about something. But still so sad.
