Tear-jerkers
Bob Praz

Yes, even I (almost) cry. I found that FOTR was more moving and emotional than TTT. The part in Rivendell when Bilbo, right after making a grab for the Ring, cries and says: "I'm sorry I brought this upon you my boy...I'm sorry that you must carry this burden...I'm sorry for everything." That made ME cry. I love Ian Holm's performance as Bilbo. Of course there's the lament after Gandalf's fall (even though that was expected), and most of all there's the ending: Boromir's death was very moving, and so was the climax between Sam and Frodo on the lake (especially with the incredible score by Howard Shore: amazing!)
In TTT, my eyes didn't water at any point, but I think Sam's speech at the end, and even Théoden reciting "Where is the horse and the rider?", was very well done, and once again the music is helps a lot in those scenes.
