Eagles and Balrogs
Foxy

Elfowitz if I remember correctly the eagles don't want to get involved in the war at first and while the eagles are mighty, the ringwraiths are mightier so it would have taken all the great eagles in middle earth and some beside to get Frodo to Mt. Doom. If Frodo was just flown in, Sauran would see him and turn all his power in recovering the ring. So Frodo had to go in secret. Also, I thought the eagles showed up at the end(correct me if I'm wrong), because Gandalf knew that the ring had gone in the fire, so he called to Gwidifer or the lord of the eagles and asked him to fly as quickly as possible to pick Frodo and Sam up. Of course, the eagles had already joined the war to help.
And about the Balrog, I think it looks totally cool whether or not its supposed to have wings. PJ did an awsome job with it. Of course everyone knows it has wings in the book.;)
