Mostly Old, a Few Things New
Lilly
Since I’m reportedly the one who started the tearjerker thing, I guess it’d be redundant to re-post my own favorite emotional parts.
But as the autumn air grows cooler and brings back the memories of the feelings I had when I first discovered the LOTR (it was October. Autumn will forever make me think of that now.), and as November and then, ultimately, December approaches, I’m feeling more and more impatient for the ROTK to get here!!!!!!! AND I’VE GOTTA VENT SOMEHOW!!!
So, for the million-and-tenth time: Sam’s line “Don’t go where I can’t follow” had better make it into film. As had Merry’s “Are you going to bury me?” The first time I went to the FORT I cried from Boromir’s death to the end. And I still get a little teary at Frodo and Sam’s boat scene. In the TT: Sam’s speech, all the way. And the music. The music was fantastic.
I already know that the Mt. Doom scene is going to make me cry. If any of you read the interview with Sean Astin that was reported a while ago you’ll know that he reached a level of personal achievement in acting that made him dance around on top of an active volcano. I thought he’d already been doing a swell job, so I can’t wait to see this. Also, he said he made Peter Jackson (Peter Monsters-blood-and-gore Jackson!) cry. I have a feeling I’m more emotional than PJ, so tissues will be a must.
And the music!! How many articles have been written about the music! The return of the shire theme!! Frodo’s death song!! ALL THE EXCITING BATTLES AND SAD FAREWELLS!!! I THINK I’M GONNA FLIP OUT HERE AND NOW!!!
I foresee a very tear-stained face and tissue-ridden theater seat by the end of this movie.
Ah, December! November! Why does September last so long?? It’s so mean: not like ordinary months that just pass. September’s gotta linger on and on and on like the ‘stench of a dead woodchuck under the porch’!
Once this month is over, it’s a downhill ride.
Also, Samwise (not the Brave, but just Samwise), be nice!! Sam’s a magnificent character and it’s only natural that everyone should want to be his namesake! It’s not as if you really were Sam, anyhow. Don’t tease, it isn’t right. And how do you mean, it’s not cool in America to have someone else’s name? I know five Sarahs myself, and I’m very American.
Sorry. I don’t mean to scold. But please don’t argue over something as silly as a name. It’s all made-up anyway. Lilly isn’t my real name. Samwise isn’t yours. Live and keep on livin’ so we all can eat our hearts out at the ROTK premier.
Anticipantly, awaitingly, impatiently, anxiously, why-the-heck-can’t-September-just-get-on-edly yours.
