Eagles and Gnomes
Annatar
Fallongirl5150, Gnomes refer to the Noldor. Just an older name Tolkien had for them. Gnomes or Noldor they are still damnedable elves.
Tomas, you said the Eagles only appear when summoned, who summoned them to the final battle? and what of guarding Gondolin? No, Eagles, like the Valar are fickle when it comes to becoming involved in events. To quote a so-so film, the Vala Manwe is "an absentee landlord". Manwe cares not for the Children of Woman/Man. Only He Who Arises In Might, and his followers, are the true servants of Eru and care for humans.
One notes with some dispair that the "F" word has been used. Yes, someone has typed Fate into the forum. Steady yourselves, I know, I was shocked too. Nah, seriously, I'm only joking, each to their own beliefs and all, tis just that I extremely dont believe in Fate, (1)its not romantic (Annatar a romantic?! yes tis true!) (2)being of a Christian/Catholic extraction I tend to believe in Free Will, fate is the negation of Free Will, they cannot co-exist. If Fate does exist, life is then pre-planned from the beginning, and so God pre-planned it, which sad to say is all Good AND Evil things that occur, then occur by His hand cos He planned it all. Such a conclusion to my mind is revolting, and so which is why I detest the thought of Fate. Course someone is bound to say "If God knows what Will happen, then is that not fate?" to this I say, He knows All possible futures, but allows us to choose which occurs. So, was it Fate that caused Gollum to fall?... no, he Chose to attack Frodo after Frodo Chose to claim the Ring. What the end does show is that Evil will ultimately defeat itself. Here endth the lesson ;)
Sooooooo no one bothered to try my little quiz, either that or it was too difficult. (Not!!). All answers are Sauron. What a suprise I hear you all cry! hehe.
Anyways until later :) Ash nazg...
