Mortality and the Elf
Tinowien

Niphredil, thought provoking statements on the movie Legolas and death. But Legolas did seem to live a fairly sheltered life in Mirkwood, as the book seems to suggest. "The heart of Legolas was running under the silver beeches," or something to that effect, from The Great River, FOTR, does imply it to me. As for the reduced army returning to Mirkwood after Battle of Five Armies... hmm. Interesting thought. Unfortunately, we know so little about Legolas and his Mirkwood life. He didn't have any friends who might have died in that battle?
I'll think about this more later. But I still love the portrayal of confused grief, because would you think that the powerful mentor Gandalf could die? I love Billy Boyd's comment about Gandalf being like a dad, and that could go for Legolas, too. You just don't think your dad, your protector, would be vulnerable.
Well I'm feeling sad now. I will have to think about this more later, my brain really isn't functioning.
