Fate/Free Will, Questions, Sots, Poll Answer
Frodo_Lives
Ok, I have just come back from a long vacation and I have been reading the posts of the last few days. I have seen that fate/free will have come up so I want to say something about it.
I believe first of all in free will. We were not made to be robots. But if you really think about free will leads to your fate. What you choose to do will determin your destiny. Like Frodo, he had free will. He could have CHOSEN to not take responsibility of the Ring, that means that his FATE would have been totally altered. He might have been happy for a while, but eventually Sauron would have had control of everything. Do you guys get what I am saying? I hope I did not word it wrong. Thats what I have to say about that next comes questions........
I am re-reading the trilogy for like the 4th time. It just hit me, who is Tom Bombadil?????? (I probably spelled that wrong!) He tells Frodo that he was here before the elves came and even before the Dark Lord came. But, Tolkien says that he is not one of the Big Folk but not a dwarf either. And he is not "fair" enough to be an elf. (I think.) And he didn't dissapear when he put on the Ring. So, anybody got any answeres b/c I would love to know!! It was bothering me for the longest!!!! Oh and another thing. Who is Goldberry? She isn't an elf is she???? I didn't think so when I read about her. I am so confused!!! Another question. What are Barrow Wrights? (Did I say that right?) Are they like gohsts or living dead like the Nazgul. I was reading the part when Frodo and Co. get captured and the book says that he just saw an arm creeping up then Frodo cuts it. So what are they? Again, anybody got any answers?
Now, SOTS (scouring of the shire)...... Ar-Pharazon said exsactly what I wanted to say when I was rambling a while back about SOTS. Thats exsactly how I feel about the SOTS. I just wanted to say that.
My least fav. part of the books. Ok, FOTR, I dont like their shortcut threw the forest or the Barrow Downs. Or Tom. It just is kind of a "bunny trail" away from the actually plot. It didn't have anything to do with the Ring or the quest or ANYTHING. Sorry Tolkien but I thought it rather boring. I could have lived without that part. Im glad PJ didn't put that in there. I cant remember any more boring parts. I probably when I get to TTT. I havent read the books in a few months. Thats why I am reading them again. It's good to be back!!!
Frodo Lives 4ever!
PS I was in NYC and they had these HUGE poster of LOTR. They had Aragorn on one side and then Legolas on the other. The poster was maybe 2 storees high! It was SO BIG. I was very excited when I saw it. Just thought I would let you guys know. FL4ever
