A Lot...
Sam/Merry
Hey everybody, I’m a sort of new poster but I am very opinionated GO FIRST AMMENDMENT!!! WHOOOO!!!!! Anyway. To my first point. Eioule is absolutely right. I have done quite a bit of research on both Tolkien AND C.S. Lewis. Both were Christian and Tolkien was additionally a devout Catholic until his death. And very true about the Narnia books as well, Mr. or Miss Eioule is very well informed. Lewis also wrote the Screwtape Letters for his friend JRR. A GREAT work (if I do say so myself) and a theological wonder.
Well, onto my second point. You..Pip as you call yourself - _ - no jokes. Bad hobbit. How can anyone be happy at a time like this. Personally I am appalled by PJ(I will pay for that later I know) He had no business cutting out the scouring of the Shire and inventing a cheesy death for Sauruman. I think he should at least have the most important parts (if not ALL!) of the shire-cleaning.
Last point (bear with me here) Chrissy has been banging the war drums long enough. Christians may believe what you say they do, but you are soooo wrong about the Catholics. I am a proud Roman Catholic myself, and I know perfectly what I believe. We believe that Jesus was TRUE God AND TRUE man, both and the same in inseparability. Also, we do not “worship” Mary, but adore her, as befits the Mother of God. And it also states in the Bible, which you seem to trust in very literally, also states that Mary was born without sin and remained perfect. And about your “denominations” of Christianity. These “roots” do not exist except within the very foundation of the Roman Catholic Church. The RCC is the only Church that than prove its self established by Christ and continued in an unbroken line straight from Him and His apostles. And of these friends of Tolkien, it surprises me that they are still teaching, seeing as how they had been his friends and not his students they would be well into their 70s or even their 80s by now.
Forgive me if I seem rude, but I feel strongly about what I am saying. And PS, I am posting this here for all to see. Maybe this will calm the religious debate. This is, after all, a LOTR forum.
Many thanks and goodbye…..
