Everything and Nothing
Lilly
Whew, I leave for a few days and a huge ole heated discussion pops up without me!!
Let's get our minds off the fight, and address an subject that was months ago addressed very shortly. It's kind of a question of decency, and even as I type that old "Little Shop of Horrors" song plays through my head...
"I don't knoooww....I don't knoo-ooow...I have sooo, so many strooongg reservations!! [la la la la]..."
...and though I'm not contemplating the idea of killing someone to feed my plant, I am wondering if posting this will give anyone the wrong idea about me.
But, no, it won't. I hope.
In the ROTK book, Sam finds Frodo at the top of the tower naked. Although this is not dwelt on in the telling, a movie is kind of different in that...well, it's visual. I forget who first asked about that months ago, wondering if the PG-13 rating would be at stake, and I personally thought there'd be something in the way (like Adam and Eve's convinient bush).
But have any of you seen the recent teaser posters out? One is Frodo, apparently collapsed on the side of Mt. Doom. Now of course he and Sam had disguised themselves as orcs before this, but had abandoned much of thier costume before climbing the mountain. And so it is that we see Frodo wearing very a very hobbit like shirt and straps.
which leads me to believe he will not be found totally clotheless after all. A change to the story, but not one entirely unfounded.
Also, all the main characters in the LOTR are heroes in a way. Frodo bore the ring so long with such determination in the face of despair, Sam with his staunch and unquentchable hope, Merry for saving Eowyn and aiding the death of the Witch King, Pippin's rescue of Faramir, Gandalf for EVERYTHING, Aragorn taking the throne and leading to victory, gosh-a-loo, who isn't a hero who can stand his ground in times like that??
Is anyone a bigger hero than the other? Not in my opinion, even though I am so partial to Sam.
hoping-we-can-get-past-this-argument-ly yours,
~Lilly
