For Pete's Sake
Tinowien

And I thought the whole Harry Potter thing sparked tempers.

Religion is a dangerous topic for us to be getting into, and I don't like getting so far away from Tolkien, but I can't sit back and allow these people to have such innaccurate ideas of the Catholic faith.

And correct the mistakes, people, but don't preach. I am establishing what Catholics believe but am not stating it as the way to get to heaven, or being 'the correct religion.' This is how wars start, okay? It really bugs me when others are so rude. You won't convert anyone on a little Tolkien forum on the internet, alright? So stop.

Jarrickonn Half-Elven, I wasn't aware that Mary forgives our sins for us, nor that it is necessary to go to Mass and confession. I have personally never done confession, and I don't always attend Mass, but I am a full Catholic. Some masses are obligatory, like Ash Wednesday, but never absolutely mandatory. Masses help me, personally, in my worship and understanding of God, but others like to worship alone, and that is just fine.

Perhaps some problems are occuring because while Catholicism has changed very much, beliefs about it have not. There are a lot of little extras in it that are nowhere in the Bible, as in many religions, but no longer does the strict, oppressive, and dogmatic religion of years ago exist.

So there is my last word. I pray the rest of you have the presence of mind to just take your beliefs, and be quite about them. Let's get back to discussing what we all love.
