RotK Trailer! at Long Last! - Comments
Bob Praz
Obviously, major spoilers if you haven't seen the trailer already (if that's the case: are you mad?)
Just wanted to mention some opinions. First off, although I was slightly disappointed by the trailer (I want more!) and dismayed that there isn't a real full screen version like the trailers for the first two movies (maybe they'll post one soon? Although this is nonetheless odd), I'm glad to see that the movie already looks FAR CLOSER to the book than the Two Towers. I mean, the huge signal rising from Minas Morgul, Cirith Ungol, Gandalf challenging the Nazgul on the Pelennor fields, and of course the Paths of the Dead: it's all straight from the book, and it looks wonderful!
You've certainly noticed Legolas talking about Sauron's eye moving, and then saying: "He's here." I thought that was a pretty cool addition on PJ’s part, put in to increase the suspense while Pippin is gazing into the Palantir. Speaking of that, it seems that we'll be seeing a fair amount of Edoras in RotK as well, as there is already a multitude of scenes we’ve seen so far at that city. I also wonder how exactly we’ll be seeing Dunharrow; I mean, if PJ didn’t bother to introduce it in TTT, why is everyone going there in ROTK?
Question: what did you think of Shelob? We didn't get that much of a good look, but I thought she appeared rather small compared to how she's described in the book. I can't wait to see her, but I hope they do a good job of it (as I'm sure they will), since Shelob and Minas Morgul are my among my absolute favourite parts of the Book.
Patience, patience (and drooling anticipation) my friends...
