Mary and RC
chris

The Catholic church was the defender of the Bible until the Reformation when all Christian took the Catholic Bible and modified it. The church did not try to keep the Bible from being translated because of evil intentions but because the language of the church was latin so that was why the bible was kept in latin.
In regards to your question where it says Mary is holy, i would refer you to when in the New Testament it says that Mary was "born without original sin" which everyone is born with. This makes her holy. Also when the angel Gabriel, during the annunciation calls her "hail Mary, you are full of grace...you are blessed among women". Also she assended into heaven not only through the spirit but also her body. If this doesnt make her holy, i don't know what does.
All Catholic beliefs can be based off of the bible or through the inspired works of the apostles and saints.
Hope this clears up any confusion.
