Trolls at the Black Gate

Near the end of the Third Age Sauron bred a race of super-trolls, the Olog-hai, much akin to Saruman's Uruk-hai. These creatures were no longer dull witted, but clever and evil, and they did not turn to stone by the rays of the sun, as did Morgoth's trolls. You will notice the tolls opening the black gate in the Two Towers movie were a good bit larger than the Cave Troll in the Chamber of Mazarbûl (The orcs or men standing next to them looked more like hobbits in stature).
