I'm Out of It for a While...
Mr. Underhill

And look what happens.

I must confess that my last article was written without looking at any Tolkien News whatsoever. So imagine my shock when I see that Saruman is being cut from ROTK?!!!???

I'm totally and absolutely befuddled.

However, I do see (I don't know how) a bit of logic in this move. I was pondering earlier on how in the world were they going to clear up the loose end of Saruman without slowing the start of the movie. PJ came up with an interesting solution. "When in doubt, cut it out." Hmph. I must say it's not the best solution. However,

I am now highly curious as to how they are going to do the Palantir scenes. It is pretty well established that it will be in. How will it work now? Will those scenes be cut too? Will the Voice of Saruman scene not be cut entirely, but highly trimmed down? (a la "At last we understand each other etc...) Only time will tell, but in any case, it should prove interesting. Also, before any of you blow a gasket, (as I almost did) just remember that it will be on the DVD. I consider the DVD's to be the "real" movies anyway.

37 days 6hrs 51 minutes and counting...

Underhill, my name's Underhill
