Saruman's Omission
Fallongirl5150

Yeah, I disagree with the decision to cut out Saruman (and the Scouring of the Shire, but that's another argument for another day) but in no way do I consider him a "sell out". Sure, this decision was mainly for the benifit of the non-Tolkienites, but I think it can be forgiven.

For one thing, there is no possible way that the Tolkien fans could ever be 100% satisfied with the outcome of the movies. I remember fans being upset over the color of Boromir's hair. It is impossible to expect everything from the book to be inserted into the movie. If it were, each film would be 9 hours long!

Secondly, PJ hasn't let us down in any major way yet. I trust him to find a way to explain everything as it should be. But, in keeping New Line happy, sacrifices must be made. I'm sure we'll be seeing a 4+ hour long ROTK:EE, anyway. And those are the versions of the films that are truly great.

Patiently,
The Lovely Fallon

P.S.: YAY! My first long post!
