Things Unclear in TTT
Muppet
Hello nerds,
Now I'm sure all of what I say has been discussed before but I'd like to say them anyway just in case anyone gives me their thoughts.
I'm no expert. I'm a casual Tolkien fan, so don't castigate me.
RE: TTT. There are a number of things which I find unclear. Maybe I'm stupid, maybe not.
1) Celeborn. I thought he was the guy who brings the elves to Helms Deep. Having (finally) watched the extended FOTR I realise it wasn't. So who is the guy who brings the archers? Needed more clarification methinks.
2) Osgalith (sic). When the Nasgul swoops over the city it seems massive, yes MASSSSIVE. But Edoras is titchy. In fact I thought Edoras was far too small, it was not much bigger than the village burned by the orcs and not big enough to be the home of an army taken to defend Helms Deep. Osgalith on the other hand too big to be Gondor's second city. Reckon the production team must've gone mad with the graphics/models.
3) I would have liked to have seen more of Rohan's army being gathered. To know where it came from what it was made of.
4) The battle. Why oh why was anybody worried about losing a battle when all they had to do was survive for a night before Eomer's horsemen arrived to kick ass? 10,000 orcs no problem for 2,000 Rohirrim (sic).
5) On that note, before the battle Legolas was talking about 300 taking on 10,000. Rohan must've had more soldiers than that available. But if not why not, and if I misunderstood why
6) The elves. How many of them were their? Was it a token force of maybe 200 or is this a major alliance with Lothlorien where they send their entire army?
I know a lot of these can be answered by the need for brevity, i.e. to shoe-horn the film into three hours, or my own stupidity but why on earth I ask make it difficult for non-Tolkien fans to watch the film. I honestly reckon if I hadn't've read the books I would be lost.
Rant over. See you later nerds.
