Okay, Okay...[a Couple Things]
Lilly
first off: I agree: I'll really miss that whole Saruman/Wormtounge sequence, BUT I don't think it's the worst thing that could have happened. Truth be told, now that the Scouring is out, Saruman doesn't have a whole lot to do with the ROTK plot anymore. I can see where PJ's coming from: he's not only trying to please the book loyalists, but also all those (grrr) people who (grrr) HAVEN'T read the book.
So THEY won't know the difference. WE will. And I'm sad, but we have PJ's promise that it will appear in the DVD, and that's good enough. Movies are HAAARD to put together: I've got two producer friends, one successful, the other aspiring, and they niether of them can say enough about how hard (but very rewarding) it all can be. And to me the flow of the movie is one of the most important things. PJ's right: Saruman interrupts the flow a bit and strains the little minds of the nonbook readers.
But Orthanc HAS to make an appearance somewhere: how else will Pippin get ahold of the seeing stone?
Also, can somebody explain to me Frodo's Dream in the FOTR? I forget what chapter it is...it's right after the Conspiracy is Unmasked, and Frodo is asleep in bed, and he dreams of being up high (I think) and of seeing the trees sway, full of creatures that would find him. And then he hears the sea...and then thunder, and then Merry wakes him up to leave for the Old Forest.
What's the meaning of that?
Yours.
