Overreaction; Unclear
Tuor

All right, maybe I am overreacting slightly. Technically, PJ can't be a sellout if he is still including Saruman in the EE. And I agree that the EE's are more for the Tolkienites than anyone else. I'm still definitely upset about the chain reaction that will happen by this scene being cut, and yeah, what Danny said. However, from what I've seen in both the movie and video game, there will be plenty to be impressed by.

To Muppet: First of all, I assume you're asking about the elves in the movie, because besides Legolas, there were no elves at Helm's Deep in the book. That's why the force that "defeated" Sauron the first time was called the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.
-Haldir was the elf archers' "leader". It appeared that it was a token force of maybe 200 archers.
-The force defending the Deep in the book was actually 1000 strong, but included Eomer's horsemen and people who had "seen too many winters". The relieving force, led by Gandalf and someone named Erkenbrand, was 1000 INFANTRY, as opposed to horsemen in the movie, making it that much more crazy that they won.
-Osgiliath was the "capital" at Gondor's peak of power, which would explain why it is larger than Minas Tirith. I do agree that perhaps Edoras was not large enough, but then again, the Rohanians were somewhat nomadic.

I guess that's all.
