November 16, 2003 Tidbits Well, about what I'm happy PJ didn't keep in the film, I agree with most of what has been said already. Although I know this will obviously happen, I sometimes wish that there was a movie of the COMPLETE Lord of the Rings...true to the books...no matter if each film had to be 5 hours long...that means Bombadil included and everything. I totally understand that Jackson had to play around with it to make it work as a movie and for people that haven't read the book to understand, and I think he did a good job. It's just those missing segments that I wish I could see with the other scenes..ah well, I guess we gotta be happy with what he have. I agree with Tuor about the Entmoot..I wasn't happy with this change because I really didn't feel it fit in with Tolkien's world. I think, even though it created more suspense this way and gave Merry some good lines, Tolkien's version was much better. The Ents do not make hasty decisions, and once they make them, they don't change them. Therefore, the whole thing of them not wanting to help and suddenly changing their mind upon seeing the devastated forest just seemed a bit cheesy to me. So that's my opinion on that. Can't wait for the EE DVD..only a few more days! |
