A Few Thoughts

Hello all

I've finally seen the TTT ee. I can only say. "Wow!" I understand the whole cutting business, but man oh man these scenes were amazing. The Osgiliath flashback sent shivers down my spine. Unbelievable. I loved the extended Faramir scenes, especially the bit about Cirith Ungol. Brilliant.

As to the widescreen/fullscreen question. Give me the widescreen any day. I'm one of those people who got a DVD player because of LOTR back when the first DVD came out. My family all likes the fullscreen so we bought the Theatrical Cut in full. Me, I'm a DVD freak now. Give me the widescreen, surround sound, and a big-screen TV. (oh well, 1 out of 3 isn't bad) You can see so much more on Widescreen and you can get used to the black bars. Really.

As to the Annie Lennox song. I have mixed emotions. I know that in the theater I'll be bawling my eyes out at that point, but it won't be because of the song it will be because it is over. I think the song is adequate. I didn't like Gollum's Song until I took the time to listen to it and really think about the words and the meaning. Now I really love it, and I've even learned how to play it on the piano. Here's hoping that Into the West will grow on me as well.

In conclusion, I'm pumped up and ready to go for December. Wicked tricksy English finals will keep me from seeing ROTK until the weekend, but I will survive. I'm totally and absolutely revved up.
