I Do Not Know
Orangeblossom
Hi, I hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving. I have a couple of things to say and I cannot guarentee that they will be short, oh well. It seems to me that one of the arguements made for excusing the change of Faramir's character is to show the power of the ring to tempt even the purest of heart. My question is What about Sam? Sam is not tempted and he is with the ring almost as much as Frodo is. Yet he is not tempted or shown to be tempted. Faramir is pure of heart, he every might well be tempted by the ring, but it would take awhile for the ring to have that effect on him. The other thing Faramir and the Rangers are good guys, only bad guys torture their enemies. So I still have problems with the Rangers hurting Gollum.
The next thing is the poll on who has the most influence. I think it is Sauron. First off if he had not made the Ring there would be no conflict. He has been a major pain for a long time, destroying Numenor, weakening the Dunedain kingdoms, the breeding of the Olog-hai (a race of trolls of southern Mirkwood and northren Mordor. Unlike other trolls, the Olog-hai were cunning and could with stand the sun)and the invention of the Black speech. Sauron's influence is that he caused the conflict the good guys are now trying to stop.
For the question: whether Gollum deserves to die,I deferr to Gandalf and what he tells Frodo in Moria.
Imrahil : Of Numenorena origin, Dunadan of Gondor, Prince of Belfalas and Lord of Dol Amroth. During the WR (war of the ring) Imrahil fought in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, adn ruled Minas Tirith after the death of Denethor II while Faramir was ill. He was one of the Captains of the West and fought in the battle outside the Mountain. Imrahil was a great warrior, and was known as "the fair" because he bore the signs of his Dunadan and Elvish ancestry. (Information from A guide to Middle Earth)
It is now time to put up the Christmas tree.
