Re: Favorite Character & Anatar Character Slur
Danny

Gandalf would have to be my favorite character. He always has intrigued me from the first time I had the Hobbit read to me when I was five. I beleive that he is the character who grows the most in the story. Aragorn, Frodo and Sam are all quite constant characters throughout the story in the book. I think part of why I like Gandalf so much is because I still remember the thrill of the moment when he first came back. It was about 14 years ago when I first read the trilogy, and Gandalf's return had not been spoiled. I like Gandalf because of his wisdom, and his quick temper in the books. I suppose he was the character that had the most personality to me. All the characters have developed personalities, but Gandalf's personality always was the most tangibly developed in my mind as I read.

Every time I read the trilogy, I love the constant reminders Tolkien gives of how when Gandalf came back, the only being in middle earth more powerful than him was Sauron. He overthrows Saruman, repels multiple Nazgul outside of Minas Tirith, Repels the Witch King at the gates, and embarrases the Mouth of Sauron.

On a different note to Annatar, I find your posts intriguing and amusing. I must wonder what written account of events you draw your version of the story from. Did JRR Tolkien have an evil twin because I am sure that JRR Tolkien never wrote the story as you tell it? 8) Anyway, keep it up. It is fun to read the different take. It is just wise to remember that Sauron was also known as Sauron the deceiver ;).
