Silmarillion: The Movie
Annatar
Is it just me or is the petition for making a movie out of the Silmarillion wishful thinking? I mean while some of the stories in it may be filmable, the book entire, my mind, is extremely unfilmable. It would make LOTR look simple in comparision. In all fairness such a movie/s would be terrible. Narn I Hin Hurin, the Lay of Leithian and the Fall of Gondolin would be excellent, but only as standalone movies. But then what do I know, I only make shiny Rings and export Orcs.
I'd just like to say thank you to all who welcomed me back. It is indeed good to be back amongst such excellent and admirable Tolkienites, I dont know half of you half as well as I should like and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve. (couldnt resist)
Favourite character, hmmmm tough question. Well there is Sauron, but apart form him... Boromir is extremely well portrayed by Sean Bean (Always thought he was great in "Sharp"). Viggo as an actor is brilliant but for some reason Aragorn never hit the spot for me in the books/movies. Christopher Lee, a master *all bow* playing the part of Saruman. A stroke of casting genius.
Nah, Sauron still rules, how can any forget the Masters entrance at the start of the Fellowship, one becomes misty eyed.
Oh as for Harad and Umbar being under Gondor in the past, they were under Gondor alright, under it's hobnailed boots! If they had ruled such lands with generosity, or indeed allowed self rule with common friendship, perhaps then the legions from Harad would have fought along side the men from Gondor instead of against them. No Harad and other suffering lands turned against the wicked overlord and imperial power of Gondor, and sort friendship with Mordor.
Until later, and again may the blessings of Nazgul, Orcs and all free(ish) folk, go with you all :) Ash Nazg...
