Disagreeing Again...
Pip

This is for Mr. Praz:
I hate to be contrary (actually, that's totally not true), but I think it would be terrible to cut out the Houses of Healing and the love scene with Faramir and Eowyn. Unlike most of the posters here, I still think that the movie Faramir has yet to show his quality, and I felt that the only thing that would save him, movie-wise, would have to be the Houses of Healing sequence. Yes, the EE Gondor Family Picnic after the Football Game was touching, but it made me feel even more than before that it was SO against Faramir's character to kidnap the hobbits and take them to Osgiliath.
The other reason to keep this scene in is totally PJ's fault. In TTT they over-emphasized the attraction between Aragorn and Eowyn, just to create a sort of movie-love-triangle, and give the story just a little more twist. Well, in order to make that work, any good director would make sure that in a happy ending, the third-wheel of that love triangle would not be left weeping on the sidelines. He's got to give her something to be happy about, or the audience will have a riot; for I am quite sure that, out of the female leads, most of the viewers like Eowyn better than Arwen.
I really hope that they include the Houses of Healing; not because of the love story, but because Faramir needs to be shown in a better light, and Eowyn needs to leave Aragorn to Arwen, and find another man... pronto.
Another thing that is throwing me for a loop right now about this Houses of Healing cut, is that I swear I read somewhere that David Wenham and Miranda Otto auditioned for the parts of Faramir and Eowyn together. And that, in order to audition for say, Faramir, you had to have an Eowyn to audition as well. The only reason to cast like that would be to see if the two actors were compatable chemistry-wise, and if that were the case, cutting the romance between them would be totally stupid.
As I said before, I hope those rumors are just one big lie, because everytime I see a picture of PJ somewhere, the words MORON MORON start flashing in my head.

In bright colors.

;)
