The Ring
Idril

I have a general question about the Ring. What power does it have (besides controling the other Rings) and how can it turn the tide of the war? How could it have helped Gondor win the war? What can Sauruon do with it that others can't? In other words, it can control the other Rings, but then what? Why does everyone want it so bad?
Orangeblossom- Only immortal beings and Ring Bearers could go to the undying lands. Arwen gave up her immortality for love. I think in the end she died from grief. Legolas took Gimli to the undying lands because Gimli wanted to see Gladriel again. Gimli was in love with her and as a favor to him, Gladriel let him in. The Appendix in ROK tells more about this if you are interested.
As for me, Legolas is my fav. character in the book. In the movie, I liked all the characters. It was obvious everyone was trying to get them right. They did a great job!
