Stop Saying LotR is Christian!!
Lannor
Hey everyone.
First time poster on this site here!!
I would just like to know if there are any other true LOTR fans out there like me.
What i mean by true LOTR fans is this.
Tolkein was a devote catholic, true, but he did not put anything to do with his religion into it. he even said that is not what he wrote these books/book for. He wrote this book because he wanted Britain to have their own legend. He felt that Britain or England was missing this. many people associate King Arthur to England but in fact many of the things about Arthur were taken from the French. He did not make this to be a religious spiritual book or anything like that, he just wanted something England could call their own. He wanted to make a world seperate from the "real" world that could be thought of almost as a part of true history. I'm absolutly appalled by people who claim it to be a christian book because that would go against everything Tolkein set out to create.
What i mean is that you can't be a true LOTR fan if u deliberatly go against Tolkein. Remember, just because the writer is religious, does not mean the book is, so please stop trying to make it. If you find some part of the book spiritual for you personally, thats great, but please dont label the entire book as christian because it just simply isnt.
thats all for today. thanks
