Picky People

In my opinion the criticisms expressed about FOTR the movie are unjust. I and many of my friends enjoyed the film, I am also a die-hard fan but was willing to except changes.
Tom Bombadil would have never worked in the film because it would have confused and irritated most main stream viewers due to the fact that it inhibits the flow of the story. ALready i have heard complaints of the film being to long and Bombadil( the great character that he is)would simply not have fitted.
Sarumans apparent wimpiness in the first film will apparently not be continued in the next films and he will revert to the books description of him. Another aspect of anger for many fans is the Arwen replacing Glorfindel issue. In the books we hardly ever get to know Arwen until the end of ROTK. In a movie trilogy such as LOTR it would not have made sense to introduce an almost unknown character at the end of the series. Rather establish her in the film goers minds so it does not confuse them later on in the series.
Remember this is a film and not a book, certain aspects would have to be changed. Lets face it, LOTR would be confusing to those that havent read the book, and that would have greatly affected the box office takings, and weren't we all proud to see it recieved so well(climbing to 5th on the all time chart.) I believe this is the best rendition of the books we will ever see, so much work and love has gone into these films.
The extended version of the movie is soon to be released so maybe the new character scenes will satisfy.
