Curse Us and Crush Us, They've Stolen It!!!
Lilly

Even as I move my tired, nail-bitten little fingers accross the keyboard to write you all, I am awfully sad, and angry, and frustrated.

I went to see the ROTK. I had been anticipating it forever, counting the months, the weeks, the days, and eventually the hours. I went directly from school to the theater, myself and my friends among the first to arrive.

We got the best seats. We emptied our bladders and ordered dry things with very small drinks. We waited FORTY FIVE MINUTES in our seats, not feeling the time, just anticipating.

The movie started. And it was robbed from me.

Maybe I exaggerate, but the next time I go, I will go alone.

From the first moment my friends were whispering and giggling through the movies. Then they were quiet, and I was totally content to enwrap myself in the story, see it play out, the very end.

Stupid, STUPID, SHALLOW TEENS!!!! My friends were fine for a while, but as time went on, they started talking, mocking, and making jokes. Not a hug could be given, nor a look delivered, nor tears shed, nor the word 'love' spoken, without them making some lame, tasteless joke.

Every time it showed the light beam from the Eye, they had to make some dumb remark about the 'guy with the flashlight up thar'. Every. Time.

Any time my friend sitting next to me felt that the special affects were SUB PAR he had to declare in his resonating voice how cheesy that was. Any time there was a deviation from the original story he couldn not let it go.

MY GOSH!!! DOES NO ONE KNOW HOW FREAKING HARD IT IS TO PUT ANYTHING, EVEN AN ORIGINAL STORY, UP ON SCREEN???? CAN WE NOT JUST ACCEPT THE MOVIE, OR AT THE VERY LEAST LET ME??????

the last hour, which I would have loved to sink into and cry, was so teased I couldn't but stare blankly at the screen, fuming in my anger. Why did these people even come, these apparent wizards of CGI and professional movie critics?? I thought It would be nice to share with my friends, but I was wrong. And now the first time I've ever seen the Return of the King--the end of everything--is the worst.

If you haven't seen it yet, a)sorry for the spoilers, and b)watch it on your own.

Only on your own, I think, will you really be able to appreciate it. And if you have a problem with something, by no means must you declare it to your neighbor. I promise you, whatever your opinions are, they don't care. Don't take them out of the story.

I exaggerate, maybe. I LOVED the movie! I do wish it had been a little darker, but I LOVED the movie!! The elderly little frowning hobbit at the end...oh, that was priceless! It was all great.

But I'll have to go again to feel what I want.

Grr.

Dissapointedly (to an extent) yours.

~Lilly
