RotK... Fell Flat for Me
steve

Well I have just seen ROTK and I have to say I was very disappointed. There was far too much deviation from the book for me. Things were said and done that, to my mind, did nothing to advance the story at all. In interviews Peter Jackson has said when he was stuck he referred to the book. Well it must have been a different version to the one I read!
Visually it is stunning. Theoden's speech before the Rohhirim charge brought a lump to my throat. It could have, and should have been so much better.
Perhaps it should have been split into two films
and some of the cut scenes restored.
I await the extended DVD eagerly, and hope to hell it makes up for this, the weakest of the films.
As things stand, The Two Towers is by far
the best of the three.
