That Shiny Shirt . . .
Jarrickon Half-elven

If you'll notice, the mithril corslet comes down rather low on Frodo; the collar is about at mid-chest (This spawned my temporary belief that they forgot to put it on Elijah Wood in The Two Towers, until it came out on DVD and I watched the Faramir's-sword-to-Frodo's-chest scene carefully). It was, after all made by Dwarves for and Elvish princeling (Legolas' brother?), who was probably a good deal larger than Frodo. Shelob's stinger (oh, that wicked spike!) came just above his mail-collar. So no, the fell demon in hideous spider guise does not have a stinger sharper than a Dwarf-spear, nor a thrust more powerful than the arm of a Troll (that would have pierced Frodo's lung and knocked him a back a ways).

Knal of Gondor (pronunciation and meaning abandon me), it is evident you've never visited TheOneRing.net (an excellent site) or any other LotR movie site, for it is now common knowledge that Saruman's confrontation was filmed for the end of The Two Towers, was considered to be anti-climactic, moved to the beginning of The Return of the King, and then cut due to time restraints and pacing issues. It will without question be returned to us in the Extended Edition of The Return of the King.

Brett, I got Weapons and Warfare as well. A superb book (loved the article on sword forging), though I wish they would give a decent full picture of the longbow of the Galadhrim.

Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien. Sinomë maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta!
Namárië!
