RotK Thoughts
-
Well, here goes on what I hope will not be too long of an article: i have only posted once before, and that has not been for a short time.
Firstly, one comment that slightly irritated me (and I dont know if anyone has already addressed this) is that of Knal of Gondor. If you do not know what happened to Saruman, read the books. I will say no more.
Just briefly on Wormtongues tears, I always took them as his not realising the total destruction of men that he had helped to achieve. Obviously, from his dialogue, he had no prior idea that Saruman had an army that big - one would assume that it had come as a great shock to him.
OK, in regard to RotK: on first viewing, it was a big dissapointment - but I have since seen it quite a few more times (as much as one can since the release date in Australia of last Friday) and I can safely say I have come to love it purely as it is. For those of us who expected more, I realise that it could not have been any different - and there will be an EE to hopefully satisfy us a little more, although I must say that I shamefully cry way too much in this movie. Starting at Arwen's scenes. LOL pathetic I know.
Well, with the comment on Legolas killing the Mumakil, even as a true Legolas fan I found it a little Hollywood-ised the first time I saw it, but now I've really come to like it. I dont know if I am right in saying this, but I vaguely recall that he did kill one in this battle. Please, correct me if I am wrong - but what can I say? Legolas is my favourite character, and I hope to not sound like a hopeless teeny in any way. : )
Also the way he mounts in TTT is not possible with Gimli sitting there. I have many horses myself, and I can safely say that - if Gimli had not been there, then a slight chance of that happening might be possible. Hehe.
Two things I missed seeing the most in RotK was the Mouth of Sauron, and most definetly the confrontation between Gandalf and the Witch-King. I remember seeing somewhere that someone had actually been cast as the Leuitanant, and from reading other posts, there seems to be those two things to look forward to. Those are the two things that stand out for me, because all the things listed by others I missed aswell. But no more of that for now, as I am sure that it has all already been mentioned.
The only other thing that I want to mention at this time is the death of Denethor. How unnecessary his jumping off the top. Not too mention the technicalities of how far he would have had to run from the tombs etc. Oh and Aragorns' nearly getting crushed by a troll. I cringe everytime I watch that bit. And- hehe, no more for now.
Thankyou for everyone who read to the end.
