My Point on the Arwen Subject
Tomas Bergström

This debate about Arwen starts to bore me to death, but I have to say my piece before I give it up.

People in this debate forum has said that Arwen is hardly mensioned in the book. That's true, but in Rivendell (i.e. in the book) everything is seen from Frodo's eyes. Since he hardly see Aragorn at all during their stay he doesn't either see the ones he meets. In fact Aragorn is almost constant in contact with her during his visit there. The few times he leaves her side is when he searches the wild, helps Bilbo with his poem of Earendil and participate in the council.
So the reason for having her in a bigger role than in the book is a necessity. The difference between a book and a movie is that in a book you don't have to show every character, in a movie that's very necessary. For example if you were to follow the book constantly then we would hardly see anything of Saruman in the movie, but only the results when Gandalf confronts him later on in TTT.

The Glorfindel thing, well you can't make an omelette withou breaking some ...
