To Melkor
Lem
Like all these others, I am sorry that you didn't enjoy the movie.
Another explanation for your discontentment, aside from time constraints, may be that the old-fashioned storytelling does not appeal to many people. I have a friend who insists that Tolkien is a bad writer, and I have several friends who could not read through the Fellowship.
While I, myself, disagree with that girl about Tolkien being a bad writer, for the "new generation" who are used to action and adventure and fast-paced books/movies, the old-style chapter-long descriptions and extensive character development is not at all appealing. And, as we said, PJ has to cater to them and to the fans.....
I did LOVE the movie, and as I'm seeing it another time tonight, I'll look for the things you mentioned and check up on the storyline.
I hope that sheds a little more light on things.
