This is a debate forum so I think I am going to start a discussion. Not about Harry vs. LOTR, not about Allegory or Christianity and not about the balrogs and their wings or lack there of but....... of Gollum.

Lets suppose that Frodo had destroyed the Ring like he was supposed to without going nuts and Gollum hadn't fallen in. What would have happened to Gollum? With the Ring destroyed would Gollum have gone mad b/c he still needed the Ring and jumped in and died anyways or would he have lived for a while on his own and been "normal" until old age killed him. Or would he have died like right after the Ring was destroyed becuase basically he was living because the Ring was there and the Ring made him live longer, would it have been like he had been taken off of life support? I would love to hear any other possibilities if you all can think of any. I want to hear some opinions from you guys! Lets get a debate going here!

I personal think he would have jumped in becuase he had been "addicted" to the Ring for like 500 years. Just with the history of the Ring I think he would have jumped in. Frodo didn't because he hadn't been bound to the Ring for as long.
