Gollum and Denethor

First things first: Gollum. I think that he would have somehow died with the Ring. Either because he was just so connected with the Ring, so that it was almost his life force, or because he would have jumped in after his Precious.

And about Denethor in the movie: I think that he was portrayed as just this insane leader. In the books he seemed to be sort of noble, but then because of the Palantir and Faramir he goes nuts, to put it simply.
