Some Relevant, and Some Random Discussion
-
Well, hello all! Hope you have all been well.
Firstly, to Frodo_Lives: Yes! Organised discussion. I'm loving it already. About Gollum - I would have to agree with Orangeblossom. Put me down for the Life Support theory - we saw how quickly Bilbo aged, and Gollum had had the Ring for over 500years! So either that, or he would certainly not have lasted for long. I don't think that he would have jumped in of his own accord. Those are my thoughts.
Tuor, thankyou so much! - I was only recently reading the Silmarillion again (Isn't it the best piece of literature ever? Hehe)and thought I would pose the question. Also I think now, in retrospect, that Ulmo's involvement in Tuor's path and purposes show how important he was in events that later were to unfold.
I also need to thank you and Imlar for your answers to my question about Glamdring, it has been a long while since a re-read the Hobbit, and both your answers were excellent. Thanks!
To Knal of Gondor: this is only a very, very brief answer to your question about Sauron. I am only going to make a very short point, and I think I can safely rely on everyone else to fill in the many more gaps to help you out.
Sauron is essentially a Maiar spirit, corrupted by the Valar Melkor. Kind of like an evil wizard - although that is a really sketchy description, as many of the Maiar spirits, like that of the Valar, have different qualities, purposes, natures etc.
The Istari, the order of Wizards to which Saruman, Gandalf, Radagast, Allatar and Pallando belong to are also Maiar spirits, if that helps you out at all. Its late here, and I can't be bothered to elaborate more on this subject - Sorry!
Although speaking of the Blue Wizards, I wouldn't mind some discussion about what people around here know about them. I feel the need for more information than I have.
Well, thats all from me for tonight : )
