'Real' Lord of the Rings?
inthelandofmordor

I always thought that the LoTR trilogy's biggest strength is that, yes it is a fictional world, but because of the depth Tolkien brings to the work, the story seems "real". In fact, I would say that that is the goal of any fiction writer, to create an imaginary world that the audience will believe in. If the moviemakers were not interested in creating the illusion of reality then they probably wouldn't have spent so much thought and time on the design and construction of this fictional world.
Now having said that, I don't believe the movie Faramir is any more real than the book Faramir. He(along with most of the other changes) were altered to fit the constraints and structure of the movie, simply put.
