Oscars and the Messenger
Tuor

Well, I'm pleased that our movie got 11 nominations. However not one of them is for acting. Hmm. I prefer to think of it this way: there really isn't one actor (or actress) to choose from, as they were all great. There are multiple lead roles, and multiple supporting roles, so instead of choosing one, the Academy decided to choose none. If I had to choose, I would probably say Ian McKellen as lead actor and Elijah as supporting, or the other way around. Or Elijah and Sean, Viggo and Billy...

As far as the messenger to the Lonely Mountain, there really isn’t any sure answer in my possession. Due to the vocabulary used by the speaker in Gloin’s account, which is pretty similar to that used by the Mouth at the Gate, I’m inclined to say it was the Mouth of Sauron. Also, from the incident at the Black Gate, it seems that he would be the main one involved in acts of parley. Additionally, people were usually stricken with fear in the presence of the Nazgul whether they were visible or not, and, according to Gloin, those present only felt a shudder when his breath hissed like snakes at the end of his speech. It may not have been the Mouth, but I think whoever it may have been was living.
