Pippin, about your comment saying that it seems that no one really likes Merry, I know what you mean, when it comes to people's fav characters, Merry tends to be overlooked.
Even Merry's other half/ best-friend Pippin gets a bit more favor. I don't know why.
Dominic Monaghan really was a perfect Merry, and even though Merry's character was not the most important, he's just one of those characters that the fellowship and the films themselves could not have done without.
It's true, out of the four hobbits, Merry does not stand out, but he's always there when you DO see him.
It's hard to have a fav char, and then- a fav hobbit, but Merry has always been one of my favorites for the fact that he is a strong supporting character to the story, and plus, Dom's performance as Merry really brought the character to life.
