February 5, 2004 Everett Great post (in parts), *doffs cap. In truth, alot of what you say is right. However, you seem to think that everything the US does is good and righteous. I'm not saying we or any other country are any better, I'm just saying there are no angelic countries wearing halos. As for me living in a parallel universe, you dont see the effect the US can have on other poorer countries. Ireland allowed the movement of troops through Shannon airport in contravention of her neutrality, against the wishes of her people and her government (a useless shower of ****s). We only allowed it because the US would have pulled out multinationals and funding overnight. However when we did allow it, more funding became available and more companies arrived. Aye we were bought, but moreso we were afraid of the economy going down the tubes because of US bullying. About Clinton etc, my point was he had better people skills. One British politian admitted Blair had to redress alot of Bushes blunders in speaches. That the job of convincing the world of the necessity of war would have been easier if Bush was a little more quiet, and basically let Blair do the talking (his words(roughly) not mine). Pax Americana, okay perhaps I got carried away alittle, but not by much. As for invading Canada, didnt they and the British burn Washington in the war of 1812? So I wouldn't count on an easy victory. It's a measure of how strange thing have got when an Irishman will back the English against the Americans. ohh well, hopefully time will pass and things will return to normal i.e. friends with the US and hating the British ;)
