Tuor: The passage about Glamdring glowing in the prescence of goblins is in chapter 4 "Over Hill, Under Hill", page 65 in my version, it's towards the end of the chapter. "He took out his sword again, and it flashed in the dark by itself. It burned with a rage that made it gleam if goblins were about; now it was bright as blue flame..."
Sorry, I can't find the part about goblins being the cousins of orcs, but I think it's in chapter five or six.
