A Quick Question Concerning Aragorn
Lilly

Sorry for staying away so long (though I doubt you are). Quick question.

In the ROTK (movie) the King of the Dead seems surprised at Aragorn's claim to the throne, and declares that the "Line was broken long ago".

Aragorn responds that it "had been remade".

???

How was the line broken? Isn't he a direct decendant? And how would one go about remaking a broken line?

Since he was the rightful heir, why would Denethor have such a problem giving him the throne?

If he technically wasn't (as to a frail mind like mine this suggests, contrarily to the book), then why was everyone pushing him to take it? And..

Oh, boy am I confused! Any light would be swell.

Ever-confusedly yours.

~Lilly
