I: Imrahil
Elendur

OK, this one's a bit nitpicky, but it really bugs me how Imrahil(or the person we think is Imrahil) was done. His ONE line is:
"It is as the lord Denethor has predicted, long has he forseen this doom."

The whole point of this is to set up Gandalf's next line, which sends Denethor's character farther down the drain. And Imrahil isn't one to just repeat other people. In the books this guy was a temporary steward of Gondor. I admit he was a fairly minor character and it doesn't really matter what you do with him, but the problem comes when you leave out Beregond AND mess Imrahil up. Gondor is left with no character.

PS- To Mr. Blonde: Welcome to the forum(I couldn't bring myself to type that until I read your second post) and thanks for understanding.

PPS- To Eonwe: You said that the movie has advantages at certain points because it shows what the book only tells in flashback, but that's the whole idea of making a movie: To SHOW things, as opposed making the audience create them in their minds.

PPPS- To Strider: When The Hobbit was written it was meant to be its own book unconnected to the Sil, so people like Beorn don't always have explainations. That brings me to the other part of your post: I don't have one favorite, but I say the 3 best non LOTR books about ME are The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and the Unfinished Tales.
