Re: George Lucas and Awards
Brett C.
Do not be to quick to dismiss Everett's thoughts about tributes to George Lucas. After all, as I pointed out in an earlier article the farewell between Thedoen and Eowyn in Return of the KING...
E: I'm going to save you.
T: You already have.
...is extraordinarily familiar to a similar farewell at the end of Return of the JEDI...
Luke: I have to save you.
Vader: You already have, Luke.
As far as the 11 Oscars, well done, and PJ certainly deserved BEST Director [3 times over, really]. I do wish FOTR had got Best Picture, since it is in my opinion the best of the Trilogy, measured against the books [which is the only way I can measure them, lacking the bliss of ignorance]. This does not mean I don't like ROTK - I am fully capable of appreciating it and definitely intend on seeing it for the fifth and maybe even sixth time before then end of it's cinematic run. I can only assume, however, that those who voted for it winning the Best Adapted Screenplay have not read the book more than once, [and I stand prepared to recieve any fallout those reading feel due to me].
