March 3, 2004 Theoden I don't get it. When we first see Theoden he is being possesed by Saruman. Gandalf frees him, and what does Theoden do? Does he follow Gandalf's advice? No! He runs to the hills to hide. (Now in the movies it was a smart thing to do, because their army was made up of 200 old people, and they almost got taken out by a few wargs, so it was the right thing not to listen to Gandalf). Then there is a fight, they Theoden finally follows Gandalf's advice to attack, and they win. Then, after being saved by Gandalf a second time, at the start of ROTK Theoden AGAIN is not listening to Gandalf! Why should we help Gondor? Maybe because if Gondor falls you will have hundreds of thousands of orcs coming North????? Noooo, what do you think, Gondor will fall, the orcs will be in Minas Tirith, and they will finally be happy and stop trying to kill everyone. Of course you'll be next. Even if they were not interested in killing you. they would have to come through the gap of Rohan if they wanted to bring a big army to attack Rivendell. I don't know about you, but if someone saved my life, my kingdom, and my life again, I would start to trust them.
