L: Lidless Eye

I'm actually surprised no one has posted about the incredibly fake electrical looking Lidless Eye of Sauron.
WHY do they change something in the book to make it WORSE??? FotR says "There was an eye in the Dark Tower that did not sleep." The eye was IN the Dark Tower not sitting on top of it. But the real point is that they changed the main Enemy, the Lord of the Rings, from a menacing presence to a spotlight sitting in plane sight for all to see. He's not scary, he's not evil, he isn't even IMPORTANT. No one CARES what happens to the Eye, all they care about is the orcs.
