More Theoden

Sir Bruce,
My problem with Theoden in ROTK is in the part where he says, "Why should we help Gondor?" Gandalf saves him from a spell, gives him advice which Theoden doesn't take, and then saves him again. But Theoden still questions Gandalf's advice at the start of ROTK. Gandalf has already saved his life twice and Theoden still doesn't trust him!? I think Bernard Hill did a great job, and the charge is my favorite scene, but I still have a problem is in the scriptwriting.
