O: Orthanc
Elendur

You'd think the scriptwriters would know this. You CAN'T just dismiss a major villian. "He has know power any more." WHY?? I wan't to know WHY he dosen't have power. Because his army's gone? He can stick out his staff and send people flying into the air. Plus it's an important scene for Gandalf, where he becomes the chief of the wizards, the last faithful Istari.

PS- To Dunedan: The Elves could easily make Gandalf new robes and a new hat. The staff is another matter. To qoute Hama the Doorward of Theoden, "A staff in the hand of a wizard may be more than a prop for age." This isn't some simple walking stick. We've seen what Gandalf can do with it. I doubt the Elves could make an identical copy of. True, the Elves might have made an immitation of the white staff, but that's a little weak. The only explanation I see is that the REmade it from the broken bits(sound familiar?).
"Gandalf, your staff is broken."
